Donnelly College Adds Its First Mini-Pitch to Campus
Repurposed campus space becomes a soccer hub for students, staff, and the wider Kansas City, KS community.
THE CHALLENGE
Limited Campus Recreation
Donnelly College, a small Catholic institution in Kansas City, lacked varsity soccer and had few recreational amenities.
With unused campus space available, the college wanted to enhance student life, support club sports, and align with its core value of Community.
THE SOLUTION
A Campus Soccer Hub
In 2021, Urban Soccer Park partnered with Donnelly to transform an underused area into a 50×80 modular mini-pitch — the college’s first-ever soccer-specific facility.
Field Features
Custom 50×80 Field – Turf, futsal goals, netting, and center-logo branding
For Students & Staff – Club training, dorm free play, staff vs. student matches
Multipurpose Use – Recreation, intramurals, and community connection
COMMUNITY
From Empty Campus Space
to Student Hub
The new field is more than just turf and goals — it’s now the cornerstone of campus life. Students use it daily for recreation, dorm residents enjoy free play, and staff vs. student matches build stronger community bonds.
For Donnelly, the pitch reflects its mission of Community while giving students new ways to stay active and connected.
“This project gave our students something we never had before — a place to be active, healthy, and social on campus. It also brings the community closer to our college.”
