Omaha Receives its First Mini-Pitch to Support Girls, Inc.

Football for the World Foundation (FFTW) was able to bring the first mini pitch to Girls, Inc in Omaha, NE in Spring 2021. This single field on their campus is 50’ x 80’ with futsal goals, surrounding netting, and a center turf logo. This field will primarily focus on serving 5 - 13 year old girls of color and will also be opened to the public when not used for Girls, Inc programming. The school grounds now host regular practice and playing time for hundreds of young girls each week.

Location: Omaha, NE

  • FFTW had 3 goals in mind when working with Urban Soccer Park:
  •
  • Goal 1 - To increase the number of girls playing soccer
  • Goal 2 - To eliminate the need for transportation for 70+ girls in order to practice soccer weekly
  • Goal 3 - To provide an accessible, safe, level green space for over 1,500+ local kids

This project has been one of the most rewarding to work on because FFTW really wants to provide more safe spaces to play for the community, but more importantly, for girls of color. This field's location on a school campus makes it much more accessible for the local community to play and practice on a weekly basis.

We wanted to make this project feel one of a kind by putting the the Girls, Inc logo front and center. This is the first of many fields coming to Omaha in conjunction with Football for the World Foundation.

  • Timeline from FFTW's First Conversation with USP to Project Installation: June 22nd, 2021 - April 2nd, 2021
